Safety tips & ride etiquette
Before you go
- Meet at public places with people around: fuel stations, cafés, car parks.
- Tell someone where you're going, who with, and when you'll be back.
- Check your tyres, chain, brakes, lights and fuel. Bring your licence, insurance and a phone with charge.
- Check the weather and the route. Turn back if it isn't for you.
On the road
- Ride your own ride. Nobody should ever have to keep up. A good group waits.
- Keep a safe gap, and use a staggered formation on straight roads.
- At the meet point, agree on the route, the stops, and what to do if someone falls behind.
- Never use the app while riding. Pull over first.
- Never ride after drinking.
If something goes wrong
- Make the scene safe, call 112 in Europe, and don't remove an injured rider's helmet unless they can't breathe.
- A basic first aid course is the best gear you'll ever buy.
Meeting new riders
- It's fine to say no to a ride, or to leave one.
- Trust the "would ride again" ratings, but trust your gut more.
- Report anyone who makes the group unsafe.
